Anatomy App

MASTER OF DESIGN

Mar 2021 - Nov 2022

I designed an Augmented Reality Anatomy App using Unity and Microsoft AR Glasses, creating an interactive and immersive learning experience for medical education. The app allows users to explore detailed 3D anatomical models in real-time AR, enhancing visualization, engagement, and comprehension. By integrating intuitive controls and precise rendering, the application provides a seamless and innovative approach to studying human anatomy.

Immersive Learning Interactive Visualization Real-Time AR • Medical Education

Challenge

Many med schools have transitioned to a blend of immersive and in-person instruction to eliminate face-to-face interaction, with much foundational medical education taking place exclusively online. The utilisation of cadavers in the short future is likewise questionable. Due to the unwillingness of medical organisations to adopt them and the complexity of evaluating cadavers for COVID-19, there may be a shortage of cadavers for dissecting. Due to such reasons, new tech may be able to replace a void in anatomical education. However, there are a few noted constraints to involving VR and AR in life systems educating, explicitly centring around how clinically appropriate the utilisation of the innovation is and keeping in mind that a few projects might empower you to consolidate CT pictures, showing various pathologies, which permit the client to envision in 3D and connect with, this is not something presently accessible.

Solution

An AR Anatomy app created in Unity engine which would be then connected to Microsoft Hololens which would give the students stunning visuals and animation of the anatomical parts and it's scientific data. Students will be able to collaborate with the tutors through the Holoens to keep a track on their progress which will make the learning experience more seamless.
